ASOS AFRICA x SOKO Kenya Collaboration has officially launched its Spring/Summer 13 collection and "obsessed" is not strong enough a word to describe my feeling toward the brand right now. The collection was only online for less than a week and many of them have already carried the "out of stock" mark next to their names. Now you might as well hope you would rather be "the last to shop" than "the first to miss this collection".
The two pieces I loved most are out of stock, but best of luck to those who are fighting for the others! Amen x
February 2010 saw the launch of ASOS AFRICA marking the ethical-conscious collaboration between the grand online fashion house with SOKO Kenya creating thousands of jobs for African workers in the industry. The collections was made using sophisticated local craftsmanship from Kenya and it's undeniable that every new collection is more ingenius, artistic and captivating than the last. Shopping has never felt so good when it's done for a greater cause.
"Whenever fashion maybe, it should always embrace the local cultural values and be ethical-conscious" that's what I believe. And doing exactly that, this season sees ASOS AFRICA collection look to traditional East African fabrics, including Kitenge and Kanga prints and hand-woven Kikoy, bringing out popping shades of the summer with an excessive amount of mesh details, semi-sheer on chiffon fabric. The collection takes on a rather sporty turn but manage to preserve the girly and sexiness under those sheer layers. There's no better way to make a statement.
